Introducing Social Travel News

Five destination pages are live as of this week — Italy, Greece, Las Vegas, Portugal, and Mexico — so this seemed like a good moment to explain what this site actually is.

Social Travel News started as a YouTube and Rumble channel compiling real footage travelers post from wherever they are — not stock video, not a press kit, just what people actually filmed in Rome or Cancun or on the Strip that week. This site is the companion: a page per destination that pairs that footage with genuine written context, updated as things happen on the ground rather than dumped all at once.

Cadence-wise, each destination gets refreshed 2-3 times a month as new footage and news come in. We're not trying to post everywhere every day, just often enough that the page stays current. 49 destinations are queued up behind these first five; they'll go up slowly and deliberately, the same way these five did.

Here's what's live right now:

Italy — Rome pushed the Colosseum's and Pantheon's closing times back to beat the late-August heat, festival season is stacking up with the Venice Film Festival and Taranto's Mediterranean Games, and a national rail strike is worth planning around in early September. Read the Italy recap →

Greece — Santorini and Mykonos are cracking down on overtourism with cruise caps and rental limits, while 126 archaeological sites threw open free for a full-moon celebration, and Crete just picked up two major honors. Read the Greece recap →

Las Vegas — record heat is finally breaking, a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant just opened on the Strip, and the old Mirage is quietly turning into something new ahead of a 2027 reopening. Read the Las Vegas recap →

Portugal — Praia da Falésia was just named Europe's best beach, the Douro Valley grape harvest is in full swing, and a run of festivals is stacking the September calendar. Read the Portugal recap →

Mexico — Independence Day is bringing half a million people to Mexico City, sargassum is running heavy on the Caribbean coast, and it's peak whale shark season off Isla Mujeres. Read the Mexico recap →

More destinations are coming, in the same slow, genuinely-written way. Thanks for reading.
